Meet our Founder and President, Jerry Burger:
Jerry is a retired farmer, husband, and father of six with a passion and calling to change the world. After taking his first trip to El Salvador with his church, he was moved by the stories of people in Berlin, Usulutan, El Salvador. He saw a need for agricultural development, better housing conditions, education, healthcare, consistent nutrition, and general improvements.
Since his first trip, Jerry has organized, developed, and funded various projects. Most importantly, he desires to give individuals a sense of self worth, dignity, and to show them they are loved and cared for. Jerry feels the people of El Salvador have blessed him in ways they will never know through their faithfulness to God, compassion for one another, love for life, and overall happiness.
“We always seem to receive more than we ever give in ways such as through their generosity, their hospitality, their simple life; that helps us to understand what the important things in life are.
It’s their faith, their family and their friends. They aren’t caught up in the commercialism of things.
Their lives are based on what I think we were put here for…helping others.”
