Lorena launched her career as a Social Worker in San Salvador for the Ministry of Justice at the General Office of National Prisons and Adaptation Centers of El Salvador from 1981 to 1992. She was in charge of 12 separate prisons in El Salvador with the main objective of approaching the social adaptation of the prison population to facilitate their probation and provide easier access to the offended society.
From 1993 to 1996, Lorena was responsible for the Health Program and Prevention of Diseases for the General Office of Roads, which focused on the improvement of the health conditions of workers for a period of 3 years.
Lorena was later hired by the Fundacion Solidaria pro Niñez y Juventud in management, tracking patient history, and doing home visits. In addition, she was in charge of managing petitions to various humanitarian entities to get donations of wheelchairs and materials for the Therapy Center.
