Water…

For some it is as simple as water.

At our housing development, the water comes on only a couple of hours a day. For others that live along the roads and elsewhere, there is no water unless you walk a great distance to carry it back in a jug or cantero that holds about 4 gallons. Last week, one of our emergency water tanks developed a leak from a gasket failure on the valve. Since we needed to empty the tank to make the repair, Pedro notified the many families that live like squatters along the road that they were welcome to help themselves to the water in the barrel to help empty it. To our surprise, a line developed with men, women, and children carrying various types of containers to receive the free water. Some made repeat trips to fill every container they could find. How humbling to know that something as simple as water would give a semblance of relief and a return of much gratitude.

For some it is as simple as water.
